6.2. Description

The monument is placed on the left side of St. Nicholas church, lined up with church’s South façade, on a two steps concrete pedestal, recently plated with broken stone, over which another marble step is rising, bearing the mark of Malu Roșu workshop, the year of its making: 1924 and the craftsman. Over the pedestal a truncated, square base pyramid is rising, the passing from the pedestal to the pyramid is profiled. In the upper side, there’s a sarcophagus shaped profile and on it the words “You shall not pass through here”. On the West façade of the pyramid trunk the names of the First World War Heroes are listed. The next area, further up, is formed by a square base from which a torus based column shoots upward. In the lower first third of the column there’s a three profiles streak over which a laurel wreath hangs on the West side. The column ends with a capitol like profile. Above it, a metal cross of recent date is placed. On the column’s basis there’s an inscription: With their blood they have written on the Moldavian Mountain ridges: “You shall not pass through here”. On the lower third of the column stands written: “In memory of the Lipia-Bojdani Commune Heroes, fallen in the name of the Romanian Nation’s Union in the 1916-1918 war.” On the upper side of the column the localities where battles were fought are written: Predeal, Sibiu, Dragoslave, Neajlov, Tabla-Buți, București, Turtucaia, Oituz, Mărăști, Mărășești.
