6. DESCRIPTION

Behind the trainstation. South of the monument there is a wayside cross, and to the North there’s a Second World War Heroes’ monumental cross

6.4. Single Object Description:

A monument to both World Wars Heroes. The monument is placed facing the train station, in a green space square. In its center, on a prefabricated pavement platform, the monument rises. The monument is composed of a cross plane thee step pedestal. Over the pedestal, a square based prism is placed. On its vertical sides the heroes’ names are written. Over this prism, another cross plane area follows with a 1.10 – 1.20m height. In the upper area, we see a great profile. On the vertical sides of this area there are inscriptions. Over this area a slightly stretched cross is placed. The monument basis is made of reinforced concrete plated with 5cm stone plates. The stone cross is carved out of a single stone block up until the cross’ arms. There is a stone plaque, now kept in a gym hall, it was once on the west side of the monument facing the train station “To the Bălteni, Brătulești, Buria and Ciocănări Coceac, Movila, Peris, Poenariu communes Heroes fallen in the name of Nation’s Union”

6.4.1. Architectural Plan:

The monument is composed of a cross plane thee step pedestal. Over the pedestal, a square based prism is placed. Over this prism, another cross plane area follows with a 1.10 – 1.20m height. Over this area a slightly stretched cross is placed.

6.4.2. Facades:

Over the cross plane three step pedestal, a square based prism is placed.
On its vertical sides the names of the heroes are listed.

Glory to the war dead
Glory and greatness forever to the martyr heroes
Glory unto the dead - they will make the ancestral land whole by their new furrow

This cross is the symbol of the Christian faith, let it speak to the future of the deeds from the past.
"Erected by the initiative and diligence of the "Village Light" cultural society by public subscription 1936-1938.
