6.4. Single Object Description:

The monument, an obelisk, has a stone pedestal (initially it was carved, now it is varnished) formed of three steps sitting on a rectangular prism. The rectangular prism displays, on all sides, a torsade streak with plant motif ornamentation (laurel leaves) and on the central axis a medallion with the attributes of the army (the sword and the laurel wreath). Shooting skywards, the pyramid trunk shaped obelisk rises, on top a seated bronze eagle, wings outstretched. On all sides of the obelisk, in the upper area, a laurel wreath is placed, over which, on the central axis, a royal (bronze) crown is placed.
On the right side of the obelisk "1916 - 1918 In memory of the heroes who died for their country in the nation’s union war" and 28 heroes are listed, and as a closing motif a laurel leaves chain is sculpted. On the obelisk, on the main façade, there is a plaque inscribed "The Nation’s Heroes’ Monument" and on the sides there are plaques with the First World War Heroes 1916 - 1918 and 1944 - Chitila commune Heroes.
The monument is placed on a square stone paved platform, around it we find green space and on the sides two artillery pieces are placed.
The monument is guarded by a stone pillar and wrought iron chain fence. The pillars are decorated with a sculpted infinite spiral ornament. Other bigger pillars, the ones in the corners are decorated on all sides with a profile.

6.4.1. Architectural Plan:

The monument is placed in a green space near the St. John the Baptist church. The monument is placed on a square stone paved platform, around it we find green space and on the sides two artillery pieces are placed.

6.4.2. Facades:

On all sides of the obelisk, in the upper area, a laurel wreath is placed, over which, on the central axis, a royal (bronze) crown is placed. On the main façade, there is a plaque inscribed “The Nation’s Heroes’ Monument” and on the sides there are plaques with the First World War Heroes 1916 – 1918 and 1944 – Chitila commune Heroes. On a side façade, on the right hand side plaque stands written: “1916 – 1918 In memory of the heroes who died for their country in the nation’s union war” and 28 heroes are listed, and as a closing motif a laurel leaves chain is sculpted. On the other sides of the obelisk (the left side and in the rear of the monument) there are no inscriptions, or written plaques.
