6.2. Description
On a five (unequal) step pedestal, a monument stands, made of two superimposed rectangular prisms and a column, over which a bronze eagle watches. The pedestal is made of carved (whitewashed) concrete. The two prisms are plated with pink marble and inscribed with the years and heroes who died in the wars. On the main façade, on the top prism the words “To the Nation’s Heroes” are written, and on the lower prism, there is a bronze plaque displaying military insignia, the helmet and two crossed swords. The years “1916-1919” and the names of heroes are written on both prisms, on the right hand side. On the left hand side, the years “1916-1919” and names of heroes are listed on the top prism, and on the lower prism “1877/78 [1995, sc. N. Popa]” is written. On the rear side there’s the inscription of “1941-1945” and the names of the heroes are listed. On a composite concrete column, white marble crosses are integrated into each side, with the same marble that plates the column’s capital, where the eagle stands. The eagle is holding a royal cross in its beak. The eagle is made of bronze. On the column capital, there’s a bronze pyramid as pedestal for the eagle.
