6.2. Description
The monument stands on a five steps pedestal, of which three steps are made of varnished concrete, and the remaining two are plated with marble. The monument is a marble pyramid shaped column. On the west front, the monument has a cross, and on the horizontal beam a rose garland is placed. Under the cross, framed by laurel leaves, a text is inscribed “1916-1918, erected in 1924”. On the monument there’s the inscription “The Parish Priest I. T., Mayor I. Popescu and C.D. Popescu. This monument is donated by misses Ecaterina D. Avianu for the Brănești commune heroes, by the diligence of the honorable committee Iordan P. Nedu, Pascu Staiu, Ghe.Nuțu, Vârban Ivan and Ivan Zlătescu”. In the upper side, the monument displays a classic profile: soffits, torusses, flower ornament, and upper still there’s palmette ornamentation. Above this area, stands the statue of a girl faced angel, dressed in a draped tunic and holding a rose wreath. Behind the angel’s wings a cross rises on a pedestal. In the west area still (the main façade) there’s a bomb shell on the first step of the pedestal. On the North façade, on the profile area of the monument, an oval medallion stands, framing the photograph of C. Pascu, and beneath it is written: “The heroes who died in the war 1916-1918”, and the heroes are listed. On the East side – 1941-1945 and the heroes are listed. On the South side the First World War heroes from 1917 are listed.7. INVENTORY
