6.2. Description
Monument is placed on a square shaped plane, paved with travertine slabs and guarded by a wrought iron fence. The pedestal has four steps plated with chalk. The monument has truncated profiled pyramid shape and on it there’s a cross with the years “1916-1919” inscribed. In front of the cross area, backing it, there’s a profiled column and the column has a capital with the bust of a soldier sitting on top. On the column there’s an inscription: “To the Popești-Leordeni Heroes, the grateful commune”. On the sides of the monument there are two marble plaques listing the names of the heroes. Above the cross there’s a bronze eagle, spreading its wings, holding a cross in its beak. Before the last step of the pedestal two banner holders are placed. The basis of the monument is lined with a prefabricated paving sidewalk.
